Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th, 1946, on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the challenges of life thanks to her expansive and imaginative imagination. Her songs were written before she could read or write. At the age of 8 when she bought her first electric guitar and began singing on an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That same year when she began recording her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. While still in highschool, she garnered a name in the local music scene but longed to be on a bigger stage. After graduating high school in 1964 she made the move to Nashville. Her first charting records on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for someone new to sing on his syndicated television show. Parton was offered the gig when she was signed in 1967 by RCA Records in 1968 and joined The Grand Ole Opry in 1969. But she resigned from the show after 1974 because her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it made it to number. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
