In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track in just six months. In 2017, the single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton with pop music was not only a way to bring new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. In 2015 there were only two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017, there were 19 mainly Spanish tracks which made it into the Top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito came out in the year 2017. After that, some of the most famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma in the creation of Medellin. In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about the advancing of the genre towards the mainstream.
